Eastern Respite is committed to promoting and respecting the culture and heritage of Aboriginal people across all its services and working in ways that are both supportive and empowering of Aboriginal people, their families and communities.

Eastern Respite is committed to increasing the number of Aboriginal families it provides services to and the number of Aboriginal people it employs. We recognise that services need to be accessible, flexible and tailored to meet the needs of Aboriginal families and communities.

Maxine Ryan is Eastern Respite’s Aboriginal Liaison Officer and is available to speak with any Aboriginal families interested in learning more about Eastern Respite.

Respite Services

Respite care is when someone takes over caring for your child to give you a rest and is for anyone who looks after a child or adult with a disability. Whether you are a parent, sister, brother, husband, wife, partner, grandparent, son, daughter or carer, you are able to ask for a break.

The types of respite services available at Eastern Respite include:

  • Holiday Programs
  • After School Care
  • Weekend Activities
  • Individual respite

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive a weekend activity program, the person with a disability must

  • have a disability
  • be aged 5 – 65 years
  • live at home
  • live in one of the following local government areas–  Botany, Randwick, Sydney City, Waverley, Woollahra
